A Flam is a video clip with no background: the subject sits on a transparent layer, ready to composite over other footage. The Flam tools create one three ways: from a prompt, from a still image, or by cutting the subject out of an existing video.

Where to find it

Open Flam in the Create group of the top navigation, or use the Flam tab on the Tools hub. The Flam sidebar lists Text to Flam, Image to Flam, and Video to Flam under Start from, plus Upscale under Enhance. The full generator is at /flam/generate.

Generate Flam

Generate Flam is the general panel at /flam/generate.

Text to Flam

Describe a subject and get a Flam. Open Text to Flam from the Flam sidebar.
1

Describe the clip

Write what should appear and how it moves. Describe the subject and its motion, not the scene behind it. One clear subject keys the cleanest.
2

Pick length and frame

Choose 5s or 10s, an aspect ratio of 16:9, 9:16, or 1:1, a resolution of 720p or 1080p, and whether to generate audio.
3

Generate

Click Generate. The result is a transparent clip.
Credits are charged per second of the clip. Turning on audio doubles the per-second rate. Flowy shows a live estimate in the panel before you run.

Image to Flam

Upload a still, describe the motion, and get a Flam. Open Image to Flam from the Flam sidebar.

Video to Flam

Cut the subject out of an existing clip. No green screen is needed. Open Video to Flam from the Flam sidebar.

View and use your Flam

A finished Flam opens in the Flam viewer. Preview it over a Studio, Checker, Solid, Image, or Video background, tune the keying with the Color match, Edge falloff, Edge polish, and Stabilize sliders, and use Open in canvas to send it to a project. On the canvas it is a Flam node; in Timeline you can add it as a clip.
