Not everything on the canvas is a generation. Groups, sticky notes, and comments organize and annotate your board without joining the generation graph.
Group nodes into a frame
With two or more nodes selected, click Group in the left toolbar (or press ⌘ G) to wrap them in a named frame immediately. With nothing groupable selected, the same button arms Drag to group: draw a box around the nodes you want, and they become a frame on release.
Frames keep a busy canvas navigable: one frame per experiment, per scene, per deliverable. Moving a frame moves everything inside it.
To split a frame back into loose nodes, select it and press ⌘ ⇧ G, or use Ungroup in the selection action bar that appears when a frame is selected.
Sticky notes
Sticky notes (⇧ M, or the note tool in the left toolbar) drop a note anywhere on the canvas: reminders, feedback, to-dos for yourself or your collaborators. A sticky note never joins the graph and never feeds a generation; it’s purely for humans reading the board.
Press C (or pick the comment tool in the left toolbar) to arm the comment cursor, then click anywhere on the canvas to drop a pin and start a thread. A comment can anchor two ways:
- To a node: click on top of a node, and the pin follows that node as it moves.
- To a free point: click empty canvas space, and the pin stays put.
If a node-anchored thread’s node is later deleted, the thread doesn’t vanish. It falls back to its last-known position and becomes a free-floating pin, so deleting (and undoing the delete of) a commented-on node never silently drops the conversation.
Each thread supports replies, and can be marked resolved and reopened. Useful for tracking feedback that’s been addressed versus feedback still open. Last modified on August 29, 2026
