The timeline is where you arrange and trim your clips into a sequence. It sits below the video player in Studio, and it’s the part of the editor you’ll spend the most time in as you shape your composition into a finished video.

Tracks and clips

Your composition is made of clips laid out across tracks. You can add a clip, trim its start and end, and reorder clips to change the sequence. Drag a clip along a track to move it in time, or drag it onto another track to stack visuals and audio together. Waveform previews on audio clips and frame-strip previews on video clips help you line everything up, so you can match a cut to a beat or a moment in the footage without guessing.

Scenes and compositions

A scene is a composition you can switch to inside Studio. If your project has more than one composition, you can jump between them as scenes and edit each on its own timeline. This keeps longer projects organized. You build each part as its own scene, then move between them as you refine the whole piece.

Inspector

The inspector is where you edit the properties of whatever you’ve selected. It’s organized into three tabs.
TabWhat you edit
MediaProperties of the selected clip or asset
NodesProperties tied to the source node from your canvas
PluginsPlugin-driven settings and effects
Select a clip on the timeline, open the tab you need, and adjust its values right there.

Animator and keyframes

The animator lets you animate properties over time using keyframes. You set a value at one point, set a different value at another, and Flowy fills in the motion between them. Easing curves control how that motion feels. Use them to ease a movement in and out so transitions land smoothly instead of snapping into place.

Trim a clip

1

Select the clip

Click the clip on the timeline you want to trim.
2

Drag an edge

Grab the start or end edge of the clip and drag it inward to shorten it, or outward to extend it.
3

Line it up

Use the waveform or frame-strip preview to land the trim exactly where you want it.
4

Preview the result

Scrub the player above the timeline to check the cut in context.
