> ## Agent Instructions
> Flowy is a node-based AI creative platform: you generate images, video, audio, 3D and vector on an infinite Canvas, refine on the Studio timeline, and export or publish from the same project.
> Prefer the Flowy MCP server (https://mcp.tryflowy.ai/mcp) or the REST API at https://apis.tryflowy.ai/v1 for programmatic work. Install with `flowy mcp install` from the @tryflowy/cli package.
> Credits are workspace-scoped. Generations reserve credits on start and only deduct on success, so failed runs refund automatically.

# Flam Tools

> Make transparent video clips from a prompt, a still, or a video, then layer them over any footage.

A Flam is a video clip with no background: the subject sits on a transparent layer, ready to composite over other footage. The Flam tools create one three ways: from a prompt, from a still image, or by cutting the subject out of an existing video.

## Where to find it

Open **Flam** in the **Create** group of the top navigation, or use the **Flam** tab on the [Tools hub](https://docs.tryflowy.ai/tools/overview.md#the-tools-hub). The Flam sidebar lists **Text to Flam**, **Image to Flam**, and **Video to Flam** under **Start from**, plus **Upscale** under **Enhance**. The full generator is at **/flam/generate**.

## Generate Flam

Generate Flam is the general panel at **/flam/generate**.

| Input | Required | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| Prompt | Yes | Describe the subject and how it moves. The background stays clear. |
| Start frame | — | An image used as the clip's first frame. |
| References | — | Up to two images or video clips to guide the result. |
| Duration | — | `5s` or `10s`. |
| Aspect ratio | — | `16:9`, `9:16`, or `1:1`. |
| Resolution | — | `720p` or `1080p`. |
| Audio | — | Toggle, off by default. Generates sound along with the clip. |

## Text to Flam

Describe a subject and get a Flam. Open **Text to Flam** from the Flam sidebar.

**1. Describe the clip**

Write what should appear and how it moves. Describe the subject and its motion, not the scene behind it. One clear subject keys the cleanest.

**2. Pick length and frame**

Choose `5s` or `10s`, an aspect ratio of `16:9`, `9:16`, or `1:1`, a resolution of `720p` or `1080p`, and whether to generate audio.

**3. Generate**

Click **Generate**. The result is a transparent clip.

Credits are charged per second of the clip. Turning on audio doubles the per-second rate. Flowy shows a live estimate in the panel before you run.

## Image to Flam

Upload a still, describe the motion, and get a Flam. Open **Image to Flam** from the Flam sidebar.

| Input | Required | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| Start frame | Yes | The subject to animate, used as the clip's first frame. It is cut out from its background, so a clean subject separates best. |
| Motion | Yes | How the subject should move. Describe the motion, not the scene. |
| Duration | — | `5s` or `10s`. |
| Aspect ratio | — | `16:9` or `9:16`. |

## Video to Flam

Cut the subject out of an existing clip. No green screen is needed. Open **Video to Flam** from the Flam sidebar.

| Input | Required | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| Source video | Yes | The clip to convert, up to 15 seconds. |
| What to keep | Yes | Name the subject to isolate, for example "the dancer". Everything else in the frame is removed. |

## View and use your Flam

A finished Flam opens in the Flam viewer. Preview it over a **Studio**, **Checker**, **Solid**, **Image**, or **Video** background, tune the keying with the **Color match**, **Edge falloff**, **Edge polish**, and **Stabilize** sliders, and use **Open in canvas** to send it to a project. On the canvas it is a [Flam node](https://docs.tryflowy.ai/canvas/nodes/flam.md); in [Timeline](https://docs.tryflowy.ai/studio/overview.md) you can add it as a clip.
